However, there are many indicators that this is not leading where we would want it to. Work satisfaction is at a low. People are dying of work. Suicides are more common than ever, and often related to work. Acts of desparation , such as school shootings, are increasing. In addition, the impacts on poverty and the living standards of the poor are ambiguous.
For myself, living in a developed country, I think that living standards have deteriorated compared to before. We live in a constant state of fear, and we are always pushed to try harder and reach further.
The problem is living against what we would naturally want to do. It is a myth that a human is egoistic. We have always lived to help each other, the ones nearest to us. Today it is not possible. The only thing you can do is donate money in a red box. It doesn’t do it. We need the chance to help other people.
The web has made our path towards more mixed signals faster. We can see people suffering every day, but chances to help are not given. We feel stupid donating money. We know 70% is probably going to someone who is going to make them work harder.
I think that the source of the problems we have today is the inability for us to work towards anything meaningful. We are no longer working to keep food on the table, or to protect our states.
